EmeryTech involved the conversion of the former Grove Valve manufacturing facility at 65th and Hollis in Emeryville to a mixed-use building that contains 170,000 square feet of office, a 40,000 square foot Andronico’s facility, and a 624 stall parking structure.  A new second-level office floor, lobby, and common areas were inserted into the existing building, preserving the brick façade and steel-sash windows.  This project won a San Francisco AIA design award as well as Honorable Mention for Project of the Year in 2001 from the SF Business Times.  Employer/Role: Ellis Partners LLC / Development Manager.

 

Renovation of the St. Matthews Hotel.  This $4.5 million mixed-use retail and residential project received City of San Mateo assistance in support of the City’s goals of affordable housing, historic preservation, and downtown revitalization.  Stuart Rickard was City of San Mateo’s project manager for this project.  Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition expanded and upgraded this SRO hotel at Second and Ellsworth.  Employer/Role: City of San Mateo / Housing and Economic Development Specialist.

 

 

The Crossings at Paso Robles is a 300,000 square foot retail development.  The anchor tenants are Target and OSH.  For six new buildings, design review approval was obtained and construction of shells and tenant improvements was completed.  In all, ten different retail tenants were installed in addition to the anchors.  Employer/Role: Ellis Partners LLC / Development Manager.

 

 

 

2000 Broadway is a 70,000 square foot, five-story office building immediately adjacent to the 19th Street BART station in Oakland.  A shell upgrade was completed including extension of the mezzanine level to the exterior wall, all new ground floor façade and new glazing at upper floors, and installation of new building systems.  Kaiser Permanente Department of Research took occupancy of the building in all new tenant improvements.  In addition, entitlements and GMP cost commitment were obtained for a new 330,000 square foot office building on the site.  Employer/Role: Ellis Partners LLC / Development Manager.

 

Livermore Gateway, Altamont Business Centre, and Livermore Gateway West comprise a multi-phase, one-million square foot industrial/warehouse development program in Livermore.  Mr. Rickard was Development Manager on this project.  The project involved entitlements and parcel mapping to allow construction of a total of two new retail buildings, renovation and retenanting of five existing buildings, and 15 new concrete tilt-up buildings.  Overall, 34 new tenants were installed in these buildings.  Livermore Gateway West was the first industrial project in Livemore to utilize bioswales to treat stormwater run-off.  Employer/Role: Ellis Partners LLC / Development Manager.

 

   

 

The Storer Residence was built in 1923 to a design by Frank Lloyd Wright.  Preservation of this landmark included recreating the metal forms for the textile-block concrete masonry units that were used to build the structure.  Mr. Rickard was responsible for measuring extant blocks and providing designs for the new metal forms.  Employer/Role: Studio of Eric Lloyd Wright / Apprentice Architect.

 

The Schilling Residence in Woodside, California is a 4,000 square foot custom home built on a sloped site.  All finishes in this project were of the highest quality.  As project manager on this project, Mr. Rickard was responsible for liaison with client and City officials, schedule, and budget.  Employer/Role: Stroub Construction / Project Manager.

 

Kew Public Records Office, Kew, England.    Member of multi-disciplinary team designing $85M extension to Kew Public Records Office.  Responsible for design and specification of exterior wall and concrete cladding. Employer/Role: Property Services Agency, London / Architect II.
